According to reports from the famous Nevada (USA) festival, a woman was found dead at Burning Man on Sunday morning after being found unresponsive. Burning Man officials reported that she was discovered unresponsive at 11:29 AM. Despite efforts by emergency responders to perform CPR, their attempts were unsuccessful.
The sheriff's office noted that the death is currently under investigation, with the cause and circumstances to be determined only after an autopsy. The identity and age of the woman have not been disclosed, as authorities are in the process of notifying her next of kin.
Burning Man expressed their condolences in a statement, saying, "We extend our sympathies to the family and friends affected by this loss," and mentioned that counseling services are available for those in need of support.
Burning Man is set to continue until September 2, although the number of attendees is expected to be lower this year. The annual festival began Sunday morning after a 12-hour delay due to rain and muddy conditions. Law enforcement agencies reported that about 20,000 people were present, but organizers still expect over 70,000 attendees. Reno Tahoe International Airport noted that Sunday would be the busiest day in two decades, mainly due to the influx of people heading to Burning Man.
