Anyma's Vision: Blending Music, Technology, and Art at the Las Vegas Sphere

In a recent interview, Matteo Milleri, better known as Anyma, shared his journey of innovation and creativity. Known for combining music with cutting-edge technology, Anyma's work creates a unique experience that goes beyond traditional performances. His groundbreaking residency, End of Genesys, at Las Vegas' Sphere is the latest chapter in this artistic evolution.

Creative Process and Vision

Ahead of his residency debut, Milleri opened up about the meticulous effort behind the show. From his minimalist Los Angeles home, he and his team ran over 20 virtual reality (VR) tests to perfect visuals like robotic cello arms and a quantum computer replica. The centerpiece of the performance, titled Human Now, revolves around Eva, an AI character central to Anyma’s performances. Milleri shared, “Eva is going to turn human to close the circle. But will it work? Is she human?”

This residency extends Anyma's quest to merge the digital and physical worlds. “I started this project to explore possibilities beyond what’s physical, but it’s not meant to feel disconnected like VR,” he explained. Instead, the experience focuses on extended reality (XR), creating a multisensory performance.

Sphere Residency Success

Initially scheduled for six nights, the Sphere residency was extended to eight due to overwhelming demand. With over 130,000 tickets sold and several shows selling out within 24 hours, the response highlights the massive interest in Anyma’s unique approach to live music.

The performances, blending state-of-the-art visuals with melodic techno, quickly gained traction on social media. This residency also marked the culmination of the Genesys era, a journey spanning two albums since 2023. Anyma plans to release a third album, Genesys III, as a grand finale, before transitioning to new concepts inspired by quantum computing and multiverses.

Overcoming Challenges

The journey to the Sphere was not without obstacles. Starting the Anyma project in 2021, Milleri initially self-funded his work, facing skepticism and financial strain. Despite rumors suggesting his success was tied to family wealth, he emphasized the hard work and dedication behind his rise. “It’s been 15 years of grinding,” he shared. “Every dollar I’ve earned has gone back into my art.”

Milleri hopes his story inspires others to chase their dreams, regardless of financial constraints. “Don’t tell someone they can’t do it because they’re broke. You don’t know their story.”

Technology and Art in Harmony

The Las Vegas Sphere, featuring a 160,000-square-foot LED screen and advanced sound system, provided the perfect backdrop for Anyma’s vision. The show, described as a “cybernetic opera,” unfolds in four acts: Genesys, Humana, End of Genesys, and Quantum. Each act explores the connection between humans and machines, with stunning visuals and collaborations with artists like Grimes and Ellie Goulding.

The Future of Anyma

As Anyma prepares to close the Genesys chapter with Genesys III, he reflects on the journey so far and looks ahead to new possibilities. “When ideas get recycled, I’m the first to think, what’s next?” he said. With plans to explore themes of quantum computing and multiverses, the future of Anyma promises to push boundaries even further.

Eva’s journey to becoming human may close one chapter, but it opens the door to an exciting new era for Anyma and his fans.
