The music world lost one of its most distinctive voices on Sunday.

Oliver Tree, the California-born singer, producer, and internet personality known for tracks like Life Goes On, Miss You, and Alien Boy, died on June 14, 2026, at the age of 32. He was among six people killed after two helicopters collided mid-air over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, crashing into an electric vehicle parking lot in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood in the southwestern part of the city.

Tree was in one helicopter with four other people including passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, and Lucas Brito Chaves, with pilot Alexandre Souza. The second helicopter was carrying only its pilot, Charles Marsillac. All six people died. The crash set approximately 20 cars ablaze at the scene.

EDM Addicts extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fans of Oliver Tree and all those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

Who Was Oliver Tree

Oliver Tree spent his early career producing dubstep and performing in the San Francisco Bay Area before breaking through with his debut EP Demons in 2013. His 2018 EP Alien Boy introduced him to a wider audience, and his music went globally viral in 2020 when TikTok users around the world attached his songs to millions of videos.

Life Goes On has been featured in 3.7 million TikTok videos since its release, and Miss You has been used 1.5 million times on the platform. He had nearly 20 million followers across social media and more than 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

He was in Brazil as part of a world tour for his fourth studio album, having performed in São Paulo on June 6. He was scheduled to begin the European leg of the tour in Lisbon, Portugal on July 1. His last Instagram post, shared the day before the crash, showed him in a studio with other artists.

Others Who Died in the Crash

Among those killed was Gaspar Prim, a 23-year-old Argentine YouTuber known online as Gaspi, who had nearly 7.5 million social media followers and was known for creating viral street interview videos.

Also killed was Lucas Brito Chaves, a Brazilian music producer known as Lucas Frota who was based in Miami. He had been with Oliver Tree in the days before the crash and was known for his work in electronic music, particularly house. Pilot Alexandre Souza flew the helicopter carrying the group, and Charles Marsillac flew alone in the second aircraft.

What We Know About the Crash

The two helicopters collided mid-air before plummeting into the parking lot. One helicopter was found in flames among the electric cars with five victims inside, while the second was discovered approximately 100 metres away.
