In recent days, Calvin Harris has been teasing his latest single, Smoke The Pain Away, through his social media. He shared a video of himself singing and playing guitar in the studio, captioned "It’s coming."
This marks his first solo release after a long break. Last year, he only dropped one single, Free featuring Ellie Goulding, along with 96 Months, a compilation album covering his biggest hits since 2015. With fans eagerly awaiting new material, Smoke The Pain Away arrives as a fresh addition to his catalog.
This release also sees Harris returning to his own vocals, something he hasn’t done in years. While he previously sang on I’m Not Alone, Dance Wiv Me, Feels So Close, My Way, and Summer, he largely stepped away from singing on his own productions after 2010. With Smoke The Pain Away, he is back behind the mic for the first time in over a decade.
In a February interview, Harris mentioned that he plans to step away from DJing within the next 10 years. Speaking with MistaJam on Capital Dance, he stated, “I’ve always said that once I hit 50, I probably won’t be DJing anymore.” He added, “I’d rather be in the studio making music.”
For those who have been waiting for new Calvin Harris music, Smoke The Pain Away is out now. Go give it a listen.
