HITS Daily Double, the American music trade publication that reports news and inside information specifically for people working in the music industry, reported in its Countdown column dated September 1, 2026 that sources say to expect Tame Impala and Dua Lipa as headliners for Coachella 2027, while Fred again.. sits in a slot the column describes as the EDM giant at the bottom of the poster. The column does not call Fred again.. a headliner.

The column, written by Marc Pollack, also states that Goldenvoice, the promoter behind Coachella, is chasing a deal with BTS, that Miley, formerly Miley Cyrus and now going by one name, has turned down a headliner slot, and that SZA, Oasis and Radiohead are still under consideration, with the column rating SZA far more likely than the other two. Throughout the piece, the wording is sources say and insiders report.

NME states that Coachella has not commented on the report and that no artist has been officially confirmed. Vice states that the festival has not commented on any of the speculation. As of September 3, 2026, no statement from the teams of Dua Lipa, Tame Impala, Fred again.., Miley or BTS has surfaced in verifiable media.

Who HITS Daily Double Is, and How Its Coachella Calls Have Landed

HITS Daily Double launched as a website in May 2000, built off HITS magazine, which debuted in print in August 1986 and was founded by Lenny Beer and Dennis Lavinthal. Its core content is weekly sales and airplay data, label executive interviews, charts, and an industry rumor column that people inside the business have read for years. In 1997 it was recorded as the most successful tip sheet in the music business, meaning the publication that industry insiders relied on most for inside information. BuzzAngle Music has called it the leading music-industry trade publication.

Its record on Coachella lineups includes both hits and misses. On September 8, 2025, HITS Daily Double reported that Sabrina Carpenter and KAROL G would headline Coachella 2026. Both were headliners when the lineup was announced on September 16, 2025.

In that same report, though, it also floated Kendrick Lamar and Dua Lipa as possible 2026 headliners. Neither was in the headline group. Coachella 2026 was headlined by Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, KAROL G and Anyma.

And in October 2024, Stereogum cited a HITS Daily Double report describing Fred again.. as a lock, meaning a done deal, for Coachella 2025. When the Coachella 2025 lineup arrived, Fred again.. was not on it.

The only wording the HITS Daily Double column uses for Fred again..'s position is EDM giant at the bottom of the poster, meaning the bottom line of the lineup poster.

To picture how big that position is, look back at the Coachella 2026 poster. The artist on the bottom line, in the largest font, was Anyma, who sat in that year's headline group alongside Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter and KAROL G. That was also the year Anyma debuted the Anyma presents ÆDEN show at Coachella. The HITS Daily Double column does not use the word headliner for Fred again.., though. This comparison is about position on the poster only.

EDM.com added context on that position, writing that it previously belonged to Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia.

Fred again..'s own Coachella history starts in 2022, when he played both weekends at the Mojave Tent from 18.05 to 18.50 on Sunday, April 17 and 24. That was his Coachella debut.

The following year, in 2023, he closed out the main stage on the Sunday of Weekend 2 at 22.25 alongside Skrillex and Four Tet, filling in for Frank Ocean after his withdrawal, with the festival adding him to the lineup only days before the show. Fred again.. was not in the Coachella lineup in 2024, 2025 or 2026.

What Is Confirmed: The Dates, and a Sellout With No Artists Announced

Coachella 2027 runs April 9 to 11 and April 16 to 18, 2027, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The festival announced the dates itself, and the news was reported by Pollstar on April 20, 2026, and by DJ Mag.

The advance sale opened on May 1, 2026, at 11.00 PT and sold out in under 3 hours, with no artist announced.

Three-day GA passes started at 599 dollars for Weekend 1 and 549 dollars for Weekend 2, moving up through tiers to 649 and 699 dollars. VIP started at 1,299 and 1,249 dollars, with a payment plan available on a 49-dollar deposit.

The HITS Daily Double column states the lineup is coming in the next few weeks. Until Coachella announces it, every artist named in that report remains a rumor.
