The online world is currently buzzing with debates about banning phones from events, a conversation sparked by renowned global artist Anyma. Anyma, a DJ and artist known for blending virtual art with cutting-edge EDM, raised this issue on FB and IG, asking, "Should we ban phones from events? Let's decide together!"
This post has elicited a wide range of responses, such as:
"It's a tough decision! On one hand, banning phones could significantly enhance the fun, allowing fans to fully engage with the music and visuals. On the other hand, sharing moments on social media helps build a community and spreads the word about your unique shows."
"Honestly, we think the visuals are a hallmark of your performances. They attract not only fans of the genre but also those curious about the visuals. I think filming should be allowed, but not excessively or all the time."
Most comments suggest that while people prefer not to film constantly, some filming is acceptable so attendees can enjoy the music and the artist’s show fully.
The phone issue isn't unique to Anyma. It's a global concern for artists like MEDUZA and James Hype, who campaigned against excessive phone use at their events last year. Famous artist Wavedash even asked fans to cover their cameras with stickers saying, "Social media? No thanks."
David Guetta has campaigned against this for years, stating in an interview, "Nowadays, people don't dance; they just film."
Additionally, the owner of the famous Club Space in Miami is advocating for a phone-free policy in his club!
This debate has been ongoing and is very delicate. What are your thoughts on banning phones from events? Let's exchange ideas and discuss!
