A new study from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California reveals that fans of electronic dance music are more likely to wear hearing protection than fans of any other genre. According to the research, 70 percent of EDM event goers use earplugs, compared to just 59 percent in other scenes. The difference is even more noticeable when it comes to high-fidelity earplugs that reduce volume without sacrificing sound quality.
So why is this happening? EDM shows tend to be louder, longer, and more frequent. Sound levels at major festivals often exceed 130 decibels, well above the safe threshold. The same study found that EDM fans are also more likely to experience ear ringing and temporary hearing issues after events, but many are becoming more proactive about protecting their ears.
If you are planning to attend EDM events across Thailand like Together Festival, Neon Countdown, White Party Bangkok, Creamfields, EDC Thailand, Dark Festival and more, well, you’d be signing up for hours of exposure to intense loud songs. This coupled with weekends at Bangkok clubs puts you at a higher risk of being exposed to hearing damage.
That’s where high-fidelity earplugs come in. More ravers are choosing options that lower the volume without ruining the sound. EDM Addicts recently worked with Hears to create a version designed for festivals and clubs in Thailand. They help you enjoy the full experience while reducing the risk of long-term hearing issues. Whether you’re up front at a festival or spending the night at a club, it’s one of the easiest ways to take care of yourself without missing a beat.
More ravers are learning about hearing protection from social media, friends, and the artists themselves. Producers like Alesso and Martin Garrix have openly talked about dealing with tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears that can result from repeated exposure to loud music. It is not just about one night out. It is about your long-term ability to enjoy music.
If you are already buying tickets, booking travel, and planning your outfits, there is no reason not to add festival earplugs to your checklist. Your hearing is not something you can replace.
EDM Addicts x Hears offer the sound quality you want with the safety your ears need. Don’t wait for the ringing to start.
