Thailand is about to experience something new in the club scene. Void Club Bangkok is set to host the country’s first-ever Face-to-Face (F2F) DJ set, a format that has been gaining attention in techno and trance but has never been done here before. If you’ve seen DJs go B2B, this takes things to another level.
What’s a Face-to-Face DJ Set?
Unlike a B2B where DJs take turns, an F2F set has two DJs playing at the same time on separate decks, facing each other. It’s not about one dropping a track while the other waits. It’s a constant exchange where both DJs react, build, and push the set forward in real time.
F2F sets have been getting more recognition in techno clubs and underground scenes, where DJs experiment with new ways to keep things unpredictable. Instead of just mixing one track into another, this setup allows both DJs to stay involved the entire time, shaping the set as they go.
Armin van Buuren & Maddix at A State of Trance 2025
One of the most recent examples of an F2F set happened at A State of Trance 2025, where Armin van Buuren and Maddix played face to face. This wasn’t just a regular B2B. Both DJs stayed fully involved throughout the set, reacting to each other’s choices in real time. The way they built the set together made it feel more unpredictable and fluid compared to a typical back-to-back.

F2F in the Techno Scene
Techno has been at the forefront of experimenting with F2F sets. Clubs across Europe have been testing this format for years, bringing DJs together in a way that feels more interactive. Instead of simply alternating tracks, both DJs are involved the entire time, shaping the direction of the set as it happens.
This format has been seen in underground clubs where spontaneity is key. It allows DJs to challenge each other, creating something that wouldn’t happen in a solo set or a standard B2B. With no fixed structure, the result depends entirely on how well both artists read each other and the crowd.
Why This Is a Big Deal for Thailand
Bringing Thailand’s first F2F set introduces something different from what clubbers here are used to. While B2B sets are common at festivals and clubs, this format changes how a set unfolds. Both DJs are fully engaged throughout, making every transition and track selection more in the moment.
With Void Club Bangkok hosting this for the first time, it could open the door for more experimental sets and collaborations in the future. As electronic music continues to grow in Thailand, this kind of format gives both DJs and the crowd a new way to experience a live set.
