On March 4, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, announced the results of the National Alcohol Policy Committee meeting. The committee ruled that alcohol sales will remain prohibited on five major Buddhist holidays:

- Makha Bucha Day
- Visakha Bucha Day
- Asalha Bucha Day
- Buddhist Lent Day (Khao Phansa)
- End of Buddhist Lent Day (Ok Phansa)

However, exceptions will be made for certain locations, including:

- Airports (only in international departure zones)
- Licensed entertainment venues
- Nightlife establishments in designated tourist zones (as defined by the Ministry of Public Health)
- Hotels (in accordance with hotel regulations)
- National and international events (as approved by the Ministry of Public Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports)

Authorized sellers must implement screening measures to ensure public safety, maintain order, and prevent minors from accessing alcohol inappropriately.

Additionally, sellers operating under these exemptions must adhere to regulations that prioritize social order, public safety, and restrictions on alcohol access for minors.
