EDC Thailand took place in January 2025, marking a milestone for the region’s electronic music scene. The debut edition was hosted in Phuket at Boat Avenue Lakefront, a location that combined tropical scenery with large-scale festival production. Spanning three days, the event introduced Thailand to the EDC experience that has become iconic in Las Vegas, Mexico City, and beyond.
The Setting in Phuket
Choosing Phuket for the inaugural edition set a strong tone. The island’s resort landscape offered both accessibility and international appeal. The venue at Boat Avenue Lakefront provided enough open space for elaborate stage setups while keeping everything within walkable distance, creating a contained festival environment that encouraged exploration.
Kinetic Field
At the heart of EDC Thailand 2025 was Kinetic Field, the main stage that served as the festival's centerpiece. Headliners such as Tiësto, Skrillex, The Chainsmokers, Illenium, Afrojack, Nicky Romero, and R3HAB all played here. The stage design was built on a monumental scale, with lighting and fireworks reinforcing every major drop. It was the place where the weekend’s biggest moments unfolded.
circuitGROUNDS
circuitGROUNDS carried a different edge, focused on harder and bass-heavy sounds. Names like Subtronics, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Crankdat, Vini Vici, Cosmic Gate, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and Marlo took over this stage. On Saturday it leaned fully into trance, turning the area into a haven for long-time genre loyalists. The massive LED setup and sound system gave it a presence that matched the intensity of the music.
stereoBLOOM
stereoBLOOM provided variety with artists including Rooler, MISH, Hugel, Gordo, and Indo Warehouse. Smaller in scale but tightly packed with talent, it created a space for those who wanted to explore sounds outside the headliner-heavy schedule. The close-up environment meant audiences were face to face with DJs, creating a very different feel compared to the main stage.
Bionic Jungle
Bionic Jungle stood out as the place for deeper grooves and house-inspired sets. Performances from LP Giobbi, Gorgon City, Solardo, Ameme, Mita Gami, and Luude defined its three-day run. The stage design used natural motifs, surrounding the crowd with a different visual and sonic identity compared to the larger arenas.
Boombox Art Car
The Boombox Art Car added movement and surprise. Artists such as Felipe Zona and local Thai DJs like Kikie brought unexpected sets that broke up the flow between the fixed stages. Its roaming setup rewarded exploration and reminded attendees that not every highlight needed to be on a towering stage.
Why These Stages Defined the First Year
Together, the five stages shaped how the Phuket edition unfolded. Kinetic Field and circuitGROUNDS anchored the event with marquee names, stereoBLOOM and Bionic Jungle widened the spectrum of sounds, and the Boombox Art Car kept things spontaneous. This balance made the first year feel complete and provided a clear framework for how future editions could grow.
Looking Ahead to 2026
The second edition of EDC Thailand is confirmed for Rhythm Park in Phuket, a new venue said to be larger than Boat Avenue Lakefront. The change signals growth, raising expectations for expanded capacity and potentially more stages. With extra space, there is room for larger art installations, improved entry points, and smoother logistics that address some of the challenges from the debut year.
Speculation is already swirling: will Rhythm Park host a brand-new stage concept? Could the Boombox Art Car be joined by another mobile setup? With Insomniac’s history of scaling festivals globally, the shift to a bigger site makes it likely that 2026 will not just repeat the debut but aim to surpass it.
As the countdown continues, one thing is clear: 2025 proved EDC can thrive in Thailand, and 2026 will test how far it can expand. Are you ready to experience Rhythm Park's next chapter?
