What was supposed to be a full-scale hotel takeover for EDC weekend has instead become one of the biggest fiascos in recent dance-music memory. Less than a day before guests were due to check in, Home Bass officially cancelled its 2025 edition, leaving hundreds of attendees without rooms and forcing last-minute changes across Orlando.
The venue Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa reportedly terminated its contract with Home Bass on October 13, citing a “lack of cooperation, lack of signing, and lack of payment.” Despite this, the organiser continued selling hotel and event packages throughout October, advertising a “stay where you play” experience tied to EDC Orlando weekend.
When guests began arriving on Thursday, many were told there were no bookings in their names. Some said they were denied entry altogether, while others learned the promised “hotel takeover” never actually existed. Social media quickly filled with photos of stranded ravers and comments comparing the situation to Fyre Fest, the infamous 2017 festival collapse that left attendees deserted in the Bahamas.
The fallout extended across multiple platforms. Guests arriving at Westgate reported printed notices confirming the cancellation. The hotel recommended that affected customers consider civil action to recover funds. Online, the Home Bass Instagram and website went silent, while fan pages and Reddit threads under r/EDCOrlando chronicled the chaos in real time.

This is not the first time Home Bass’ parent company, Music Festival Trips LLC, has faced backlash. Earlier this year, attendees of Dirtybird CampINN, another event under the same organiser, claimed hotels were not paid, leading to surprise charges at check-in. Those reports foreshadowed what many are now calling the end of the Home Bass brand altogether.
As of Friday morning, no official refund process has been announced. The cancellation came less than 24 hours before EDC Orlando gates opened, leaving many travellers without lodging or clarity on where their money went. Fans who had planned to use Home Bass as their weekend base have turned to online communities to share resources and find last-minute accommodation.
For now, Home Bass stands as a cautionary tale in the festival world, a reminder that even the most promising concepts can crumble overnight without accountability, contracts, and trust.
