Suwang Tienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, has stated that Thailand must host a global music festival like Tomorrowland. Discussions are currently underway for a minimum five-year agreement with the organizers. If confirmed, Thailand would become the first country in Asia to secure hosting rights. The proposed location is “Wisdom Valley” in Khao Mai Kaew, Pattaya. The project will rely on private investment, with government support provided only in key areas necessary to meet international standards.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, explained that TAT is coordinating with related agencies and overseeing strategic planning. A comprehensive feasibility study by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau supports the proposal. From 2026 to 2030, the event is expected to generate over 21 billion baht in total economic impact. Tourist arrivals could exceed one million during the hosting period. The project is also expected to boost local employment, attract long-term investment, and promote Thailand as a center for international music events.

However, TAT acknowledged growing criticism on social media. There is concern that negative sentiment may influence the organizers. If Thailand is perceived as unwelcoming, they may turn to another country. Several locations across Asia have already submitted proposals.

“This is not just about bringing in artists. It involves knowledge sharing, job creation, and regional development in collaboration with professionals from around the world,” said the TAT Governor, highlighting the potential long-term benefits.
