Finding the right venue for S2O Songkran Music Festival has never been easy. Woody, whose full name is Vuthithorn Milintachinda and who is the founder and driving force behind S2O, just shared the full story of how this year's new home came to be, and it is a better story than most people expected.
Three Venues in Ten Years
Over the past decade S2O has relocated three times. Finding a space large enough to host a world-class festival in the middle of Bangkok while staying far enough from residential areas to avoid noise complaints is genuinely difficult.
Last year the festival moved to Rajamangala National Stadium to mark its 10th anniversary, but this year a football match was confirmed for the same Songkran period, which meant the search had to start all over again.

An Almost Impossible Brief
Woody's requirements were straightforward on paper and nearly impossible in practice. The venue needed to be over 50 rai in size, away from dense residential areas, centrally located, and within walking distance of public transport. Anyone who knows Bangkok will understand why that brief sounds like a contradiction.
The answer came from memory. Woody recalled seeing a large undeveloped plot next to the Thailand Cultural Centre about ten years earlier while filming a TV program at MCOT's nearby Channel 9 studio. The land had belonged to MCOT for years but had never been activated. He secured an exclusive short-term lease on the 50-plus rai site and the transformation began.
A Full Circle Moment
For Woody the discovery carried personal weight beyond just logistics. MCOT had been part of his life since childhood, through his career in television, and now through S2O. He described the moment as life bringing him back to a place that has always been part of his story, this time to build something entirely new.
The overgrown site required clearing from scratch before it could safely host tens of thousands of people. The result is S2O Land on Ratchadaphisek Road, directly accessible via MRT Thailand Cultural Centre station.
The Best Venue in 11 Years
Woody was direct about his assessment.
He said S2O Land is the most complete and powerful venue S2O has ever used across its 11-year history, and that it now holds its own against the eight other cities across three continents where S2O is held. He acknowledged that other international locations have more scenic and picturesque settings than central Bangkok, but said the openness and scale of this former urban forest is something he is genuinely proud of.
What Is New in 2026
Beyond the venue, Woody announced the launch of K2O Songkran Music Festival, a brand new spin-off event taking place on April 14 aimed at younger audiences and K-pop fans. The response to the announcement has already been strong, and S2O is positioning K2O as a complementary event to the main festival rather than a competitor, opening the door to a new generation of festivalgoers who want the S2O energy in a different musical world.
S2O Songkran Music Festival 2026 runs April 11 to 13 at S2O Land, Ratchadaphisek Road, near MRT Thailand Cultural Centre. Tickets are available at s2ofestival.com.
