Some videos go viral because they are funny. This one went viral because nobody could believe what they were watching.

Phikey, the Australian DJ and house music producer known for filming DJ sets against some of the most breathtaking natural backdrops in the world, was attacked mid-set during a filming session at a coastal cove near Marseille, France. The footage he captured in the process has since spread across the internet and landed on desks at the local police station.

What Actually Happened

Phikey, whose real name is Sam Baldwin, was roughly 40 minutes into his set when a local woman appeared and began demanding he stop. He says the music was playing at a very low volume. He turned it off immediately anyway. That was not enough.

The confrontation escalated when the woman approached Baldwin and cursed at him before emptying her cup of coffee into his face. From there it got worse. She pulled out a taser, made contact with him, chased him across the cove, and punched him in the face. At one point she picked up a rock, but tripped and fell before she could use it. That gave Baldwin the window he needed to get out.

The Camera Became the Evidence

Because Phikey films everything, the entire incident was captured on video. He posted it, it spread immediately, and he handed the footage over to police before leaving France.

In an update under his YouTube video, Baldwin confirmed he went to the police and that the woman is now attempting to suppress the evidence by filing manual privacy takedowns across YouTube and Instagram, as well as sending direct legal threats via email.

Her argument is that the video humiliates her and exposes her to harassment. Baldwin's response was direct: "She's trying to avoid the consequences of her own actions and claim she's the victim here. Documenting a criminal assault involving a taser in a public space is a matter of public interest and safety."

He blurred her face to comply with platform policies, but has kept the video up and says he will be forwarding her email correspondence to authorities as additional evidence.

The Bigger Conversation

This incident landed in a wider conversation about the risks creators and artists take when working in public spaces. Phikey built his brand on filming sets in stunning outdoor locations precisely because those environments make the content feel alive and real. That same openness to the world is what made him vulnerable here.

It also raises a real question about where the line sits between noise disturbance and criminal assault. Turning the music off did not stop what happened next. The camera did not prevent it either, but it did prove it.

As Baldwin put it: without that footage, none of this would have been believed.
