2025 marks another significant point for Seven Lions as he prepares to release his second full-length studio album, Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars, scheduled for December 12, 2025, via Ophelia Records.
The album represents a return to exploring his creative roots, featuring 11 tracks written over the past year and a half. Its musical direction is deeper and cinematic, with a broader creative scope compared to Seven Lions’ previous work, reflecting a perspective he has often shared that music does not need to be restricted by genre boundaries or fixed formulas.
Singles released ahead of the album have been well received, including Cold as Snow, By the Light of the Moon, and So Far Away. Alongside these tracks, eight additional songs are set for release on December 12. Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars is now available for pre-save via linktr.ee/sevenlions.com.
Seven Lions is recognized as a producer with a clearly established identity within electronic music. His work is defined not only by detailed production, but by a consistent willingness to move beyond genre conventions and combine different emotional elements into a sound that has remained identifiable since his earliest releases.
His professional breakthrough occurred in 2012, when he won the Beatport Remix Contest with a dubstep reinterpretation of You Got to Go by Above & Beyond. This remix led to his association with Skrillex and OWSLA. The following year, touring alongside Porter Robinson and Krewella further positioned him within the electronic music landscape, particularly through his approach to combining trance influences with bass-driven production.
Over subsequent years, Seven Lions performed at major international festivals including Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest, Electric Zoo, SXSW, and HARD. During this period, he released projects noted for both artistic quality and chart performance, such as Days to Come and Worlds Apart, which included collaborations with Ellie Goulding and Tove Lo and debuted at number one on the iTunes Dance Chart. These releases established Seven Lions as one of the leading figures in bass-focused electronic music during that period.
From 2015, he began releasing projects with more clearly defined concepts, starting with The Throes of Winter, followed by Creation in 2016, which placed increased emphasis on guitar-led songwriting and acoustic elements. These releases reflected an ongoing effort to extend his creative range in line with his long-held view that music does not need to remain within a single structure.
He later expanded this direction further through Where I Won’t Be Found and the Horizon tour alongside Tritonal and Kill The Noise. In 2018, he founded Ophelia Records, which has since become a recognized label for melodic bass and emotionally driven electronic music.
He also developed the Chronicles live show concept, which combines sound design, music, visual art, and an immersive presentation format. The first Chronicles event at Seattle’s WaMu Theater sold out all 8,500 seats.
